BEST UPGRADE EVER

Upgrading from RAC’s excellent Diamond series I recently ordered new interconnects for my Audio Research, Sonus Faber system, without a copper screen, using the new high purity 99.99 silver. I believed that removing the screen should eliminate induced Eddy currents which blur the signal. Slightly concerned that there might be some hum or interference, the resulting 4 meter balanced cable is absolutely silent. Within the first few seconds it was clear that the improvement was spectacular, the first word coming to mind (in a good way) was “flabbergasted”! Listening to a recording I know well I thought wow, that orchestra, that flute player, has really improved! How much is due to the higher purity silver or absence of a copper shield isn’t clear, but the stunning combination is like removing a window rather than simply cleaning it. The overall balance was extended and perfect from the very first moment. The sound is orders of magnitude clearer than previously, as if a major component has been upgraded. There is much more airiness & low level detail, a greater sense of dynamics, space & height around the performers, and much more precise imaging. Most obvious is the speed of transients, both starting and stopping. I’ve just added unbalanced RCA interconnects with the same construction for my subwoofer & again there’s not a trace of noise or hum - the improvement is similarly breathtaking. This has been the most significant and cost effective upgrade I’ve ever made!
